just can't wait.

I know it's Christmas Eve and it's entirely inappropriate to write something about New Years. Holidays must go in order. Much to my Mother's chagrin, we must wait for Thanksgiving to pass before putting "A Tender Tennessee Christmas" on repeat. That's just the things work in my "I-want-to-be-queen-of-the-world-so-everyone-follows-my-calendar" mind.

So I must not post yet about New Years.

But, even as I stare at my parents' perfectly-manicured and appropriately-lit Christmas tree, I'm not inspired. I just keep thinking about resolutions. Writing and resolutions. Resolutions and writing. So I've got to get it out.

On odd years, I make a slew of unattainable resolutions, which, in their status of not being attained, promptly discourage me from making even the smallest resolution the following year. So, let's review: even years, no resolutions, odd years, too many resolutions. And guess what this year is... 2011. Odd. Yeah, baby. Let the resolutions roll.

Here's the beginnings of a list:
  1. Read the entire Bible. (This, sadly, has been a resolution for the last fifteen years. Maybe this year is the one.)
  2. Write more. (This resolution may or may not effect this tiny, and often too dusty, corner of the internet world. No promises. But get excited.)
  3. Go back to Argentina to visit. (This is an easy one. I already have the plane ticket. Check!)
  4. Turn 30. (Ouch.)
  5. Take full advantage of living with Miss Southern Cooking herself and learn how to cook at least three really good dishes.
  6. Run another half-marathon. (Might need to shoot for next Fall for that one. For now, I'll just run out to the parking lot.)
  7. Laugh more than I did this year.
  8. Get connected at my new church.
  9. Write letters. (I have too many friends living in distant places not to do this. Email doesn't count.)
  10. Pass my classes.
  11. See Natalie Leary at least once a week. (She's just too good for my soul to pass her up.)
  12. Find a mentor who really loves Jesus. Not just obeys Him.
  13. Go on a date. Or several. (Am I allowed to say that?)
  14. Subscribe to a magazine. (The advantages of being back in the States.)
  15. Always answer my phone. (I'm doing better at this one!)
  16. Actually put pictures in my picture frames at home. (Enough of strange yet jovial people staring at me from their perches on sunlit beaches.)
Sixteen so far. Maybe this year I can make my way up to forty. That should be sufficiently unattainable for an odd year. More to come...
