two weeks.
Two weeks ago my heart broke. Legitimately, genuinely tore in half. And it didn't even have to do with a guy. There were hard parts leading up to the actual moment... the time I started crying making the bed, because I knew that I would miss those little things that make a life feel normal and lived-in... the good, long talks with wonderful friends that had a hint of nostalgia knowing that our time together was coming to an end... trying to express the depth of what I feel to all of my friends at my goodbye party.
But the hardest part was definitely the leaving. Tears as I walked out of our apartment, trying to force my mind to replay years of memories in a moment. Tears in saying goodbye to the friends that came by the apartment as we loaded my life crammed into three suitcases onto the van. And tears... oh the tears... at the airport. Tears as I said goodbye. Tears as I turned the corner to go to the gate, knowing that I had just said goodbye to my entire life. Tears that hurt. Tears that wouldn't stop.
But as the tears flowed, the gratitude grew. Gratitude for incredible friends who know me deeply and love me well. Gratitude for the chance to live such an exciting adventure. But most of all, gratitude because I hardly recognize the girl that moved to Argentina in 2003. Gratitude because God intervened, transformed, set free, and changed me.
And so it's a bit ironic. It's a restored heart that's been broken. But there's hope that it'll be restored once again.

I can totally understand that. God is so good to take us to a place, break us, heal us, set us free, and send us on a new adventure. It is amazing how living in a different world, that somehow becomes our new world, and being around the body of Christ so intimately can do things in our lives to change us forever. And praise God for that!
